CricViz & The Hundred

The Hundred represents the start of a new era for English cricket and CricViz are excited to be at the forefront of this revolutionary moment for the game through official partnerships with the ECB, the PCA, Sky Sports and the BBC.

Three CricViz models will appear on the broadcast on both channels and on the official Hundred app – which you can download here.

CricViz classic and fan favourite, WinViz – our win probability model – will be presented on both Sky Sports and the BBC as well as the Match Centre of the Hundred app. Unlike previous iterations of our WinViz model this version does not take account of team strength – with the purpose being to educate viewers about the balance of power in the game. The Hundred is a new format and this version of WinViz is modelled on the last 100 balls of a T20 innings. This new version of WinViz will update faster than previously, responding instantaneously to the changing score.

The Hundred will also see the arrival of our new Player Ratings which rank every player in the tournament in batting, bowling and overall out of 100. These ratings are built off our Match Impact model – an advanced performance evaluation tool for limited overs cricket. The Ratings are built off career data in T20 cricket and are weighted for recency, regressed to account for sample size and adjusted for the Hundred. These ratings will appear on both Sky Sports and the BBC as well as in The Hundred App. The top ranked players in the men’s tournament are Sunil Narine and Jofra Archer at 95/100 and the top ranked women’s player is Nat Sciver at 97/100.

Finally, the official Most Valuable Player ranking for the tournament will be powered by CricViz Match Impact – continuing our relationship with the PCA which powers the MVP in first class, List A and T20 cricket. The MVP is based on our Match Impact model and reflects performances in the tournament itself.

CricViz are delighted to be part of a new era for the game and hope that our models and analysis take viewers closer to the action than ever before, making the game more accessible to new viewers and enlightening older fans as well.
