CricViz’s Role in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Win v India

in a recent BBC Podcast, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja explains how CricViz analysis helped contribute to Pakistan’s victory against India.

CricViz’s partnership with the PCB sees us provide access to our database to their international analysts. During the recent T20 World Cup this was further enhanced by a consultancy service with CricViz providing pre-match notes & support to the coaching staff.

In an appearance on the BBC Stumped podcast Ramiz Raja explains how CricViz analysis encouraged Pakistan to give Shaheen Shah Afridi the first over of the match because the new ball only swings for a brief period (Imad Wasim opened the bowling in Pakistan’s two warm-up matches) and that he should focus on swinging the ball into the opening pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.

In a now famous spell, Shaheen removed both batsmen with in-swinging deliveries and was given three overs in the Powerplay, setting up Pakistan’s historic 10-wicket victory – the first time in 12 attempts that Pakistan have beaten India in an ICC event.

CricViz’s support for Pakistan continued throughout the tournament was evident on many occasions, for example in their win against Scotland and their field setting for George Munsey.
